Food and Wine
with Paul Reisler
In this course, we’ll start with making rice and learn how to cut the fish and make different kinds of both nigiri sushi and rolls. In addition, we’ll explore the different sauces and how to make it look beautiful, as sushi is both beautiful to look at and delicious to eat. At the end of each class, we’ll eat our creations until nothing is left but a few grains of rice.
Note: Materials fee of $75 for fish, supplies, and rolling mat. Each participant will need a sushi knife which may be purchased for $20. Enrollees will receive directions to the class location.
Paul Reisler is the founder and artistic director of Kid Pan Alley as well as Trapezoid and his assorted other bands. His real hidden talent, however, is making sushi. He started back in the early ‘80’s after Trapezoid toured in Japan, and he was hooked. He’s been making sushi ever since for his friends in Rappahannock. Everyone who has had it agrees: his sushi tastes way better than his music.
